Mariska Hargitay is known by the American audience as an actress and director. She came to fame with her stunning portrayal in the horror film Ghoulies, which dropped in 1985. She also appeared in the 1986 adventure-drama TV series Downtown. Before she etched her named in the field, Hargitay is known as the offspring of bodybuilder Mickey Hargitay and actress Jayne Mansfield. Aside from her work in Hollywood, she is a known philanthropist.

Hargitay is married to actor Peter Hermann. They are blessed with a son named August. The couple wanted to have a big family together and so they decided to seek help from an adoption lawyer to have two more children. In 2019, the two were able to welcome two babies into their homes but six months apart. They first had a daughter Amaya, whom they welcomed home at 13 months old. Soon after, they welcomed Andrew Nicholas, who was 9 months old. Hargitay said that adopting has always been what she has planned with Hermann. Good thing they did not encounter any difficulty in the process.
