Nia Vardalos | Ilaria

This 58-year-old Greek-Canadian goddess is famous for being the star in the commercially successful romantic comedy film My Big Fat Greek Wedding back in 2000, which was followed by a sequel in 2016. She also starred in My Life in Ruins and Larry Crowne. Nia Vardalos may have succeeded in her acting career, but there was once a dream that seemed so far for her to reach. She had a hard time getting pregnant. In fact, she tried in-vitro fertilization 13 times but to no avail.

Luckly, Vardalos found her journey to motherhood to be extra special. In 2008, when she adopted a three-year-old girl from the American foster care system, it changed her life forever. Nothing mattered to her more than her daughter Ilaria Gomez, whom she adopted with her former husband Ian Gomez. The degree of love she feels for her daughter is simply indescribable.
