Raquel Welch has become the ultimate female icon of the 1970s after appearing in One Million Years B.C. She has a varied acting career with parts in feature films, Broadway theater, and television films and shows. She is also given credit for breaking the mold of the blonde bombshell that reigned in 1950s Hollywood.

While the attention she received for her One Million Years B.C. character led to more roles, Welch struggled to secure her sky-high acting career throughout the late 1960s into the 1970s as her few subsequent films were box office flops. Despite her limited critical success, the actress is still lauded for ushering in a new kind of ideal leading lady. In addition to her entertainment work, she has worked as a model and spokesperson for Foster Grant sunglasses and also developed her wig business successfully.
