HARVEY KEITEL
Harvey Keitel worked as a court reporter before embarking on a career in acting. Studying under renowned acting teachers Stella Adler and Lee Strasberg at the HB Studio in Greenwich Village, he soon landed roles in off-Broadway productions. He even had a minor part in Reflection in a Golden Eye by John Huston, though he did not get credit for the role.
Keitel’s breakthrough came in the late 1960s when he won the leading role in Martin Scorsese’s film Who’s That Knocking at My Door. The actor continued collaborating with Scorsese, subsequently appearing in the director’s crime epic Mean Streets, which also starred actor Robert De Niro. The year 1976 was the biggest one for him, as he appeared in a series of successful movies like Taxi Driver. Besides acting, Keitel served as the co-president of the Actors Studio, beginning in 1995 until 2017. He is currently working on the 2022 movie The Legitimate Wise Guy Films.
